white meats

As related to the law of the Church, are milk, butter and cheese. In various ages of the Church’s history, the law of fast and abstinence forbade, principally in Lent, the use of these white meats, and also that of eggs. At present the prohibition of white meats and eggs is not part of the Church law of abstinence.
