Venerable William GagnonProfile

As a young man, William felt a call to religious life, and after a six year search, he joined the Hospitallers of Saint John of God in 1930. Hospitaller provincial of Canada in 1941. Assigned to Indochina (modern Vietnam) in December 1951, he founded the Hospitallers province there, and ministered to people injured, displaced or starving as a result of the war. In 1954 he helped evacuate people from the north to southern Vietnam where he established a community and served as prior of the convent hospital.
