Venerable Carlo SalerioProfile

He began his studies in seminaries in the Italian cities of Milan and Monza, and while still a seminarian, he fought in the Five Days of Milan and the Italian War of Independence in 1848. Studied at the seminary in Seveso, Italy. Ordained a priest in 1850. Member of the Lombard Seminary for Foreign Missions. Member of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions. Part of the first missionary expedition of the Institute in 1852 where he worked with Blessed Giovanni Battista Mazzucconi at Woodlark Island, Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea until 1855 when failing health forced his return to Italy. Founded the Suore della Riparazione (Sisters of Reparation) to work with poor, abandoned and abused women and girls.
