Venerable Carlo CavinaProfile

Raised in a pious family. Due to health problems, Carlo had trouble attending seminary, so he did most of his studies for the priesthood from home. He was ordained a priest of the diocese of Imola, Italy on 10 June 1846; he was ordained by the future Pope Pius IX. Father Carlo taught in the seminary and in a village near Imola. Provost of the Collegiate in Lugo, Italy in 1850. Over local Masonic-led antiCatholic objections, he founded the Little House of Saint Joseph as a catechism center and school for girls; it grew into the Institute of Saint Joseph. To manage the school and teach the girls, he founded the Congregation of the Daughters of Saint Francis de Sales who continue their good work in several countries today.
