Venerable Antonietta Meo

Venerable Antonietta MeoAlso known as

  • Nennolina (a nickname)

Profile

Younger daughter of Michele and Maria Meo. Member of the Catholic Action youth group. Nennolina developed bone cancer as a pre-schooler, lost a leg to it, and lived with a rather ungainly prosthetic. She was a happy and pious girl, and when it became obvious that she might not live long enough to receive the sacraments in the normal times, she was allowed to make her first confession, be Confirmed, and she made her First Communion on 25 December 1936. She also received extreme unction, the last rites, in June 1937.
