Venerable Alexia González-Barros y GonzálezProfile

One of five children born to pious members of Opus Dei. Alexia made her First Communion in Rome, Italy on 8 May 1979, the next day attended the pope‘s weekly general audience, and when Pope Saint John Paul II passed nearby greeting the pilgrims, she ran from the crowd to hug him, and received a blessing from the pope. At age 14 she devloped a tumor that slowly paralyzed and finally killed her. Throughout the illness she would offer her suffering for the Church, and would pray, “Jesus, I want to feel better, I want to be healed; but if you do not want that, I want what you want.”
