A.D. 1214, April 8, founder of the Carmelite Order, was Bishop of Vercelli, and Patriarch of Jerusalem. As he was embarking at Acre to attend a Lateran council in Home, he was murdered by a man who hated him for having reproved his sins. For this cause he is considered a martyr.
