Saint Eulogius of Edessa



Priest in Edessa, Syria. When a Arian bishop was imposed on the area by Emperor Valens, Eulogius refused to renouce orthodox Christianity and was exiled to Thebaid, Egypt where he worked for the conversion of local pagans. When Valens died, Eulogius returned to Edessa to serve as their bishop; he was consecrated by Bishop Eusebius of Samosata. Attended the Second Council of Constantinople in 381.
