New Catholic Dictionary – Saint Abdas


Martyred in 421. Bishop of Susa, Persia. During the reign of Yezdegerd, he destroyed a Zoroastrian fire-temple; in retaliation, a general destruction of all churches was ordered, followed by persecution, and Abdas was clubbed to death. Feast, 5 September.
