Pope Pelagius II
Profile
Son of Winigild, and probably descended from Goths. Chosen 63rd Pope. His papal crowning was delayed due to the seige of Rome by the invading Lombards. Worked to end the Istrian schism. Believed fiercely in the need for clerical celibacy, and issued a series of disciplines that were later modified by Pope Gregory I.
