New Catholic Dictionary – Saint Diarmaid


Archbishop of Armagh, born Ireland, died c.852. Expelled from his see by the usurper Foraunan, 835, he returned, 836, but in 841 the see was destroyed by Scandinavian invaders. He was renowned for his learning. Feast, 24 April.
