Little is known of his pontificate, except that the Emperor Septimius Severus passed the edict of persecution, 202, forbidding conversions to Christianity and Judaism; and that heretical leaders, among them Hippolytus, Theodotus the Tanner, Theodotus the Money Changer, Asclepodotus, Proclus, and Artemon, disturbed his reign.
