Mamertine Prison

[Mamerine Prison]

Generally accepted as the one mentioned by Livy, it lies beneath the church of San Giuseppe dei Falegnami, Via di Marforio, Rome, Italy. According to tradition in the 6th-century Acts of Saint Processus and Saint Martmlanus, Saint Peter the Apostle was imprisoned in the lower chamber or Tullianum where he baptized these saints, his jailers.
