Gloria Patri


(English: Glory be to the Father) The Latin prayer beginning with these words, with the response “sicut erat in principio,” etc. This prayer is always appended to the Psalms in the Mass and in the Office, except in the last three days of Holy Week, and in Masses for the dead. It is called the lesser doxology. Its present form dates back to the 7th century.
