Breviary Hymns and Missal Sequences, Sunday Lauds, Lent

cover to the ebook 'Breviary Hymns and Missal Sequences', translated by Archbishop Edward Gilpin BagshaweO Jesus, our salvation’s Sun,
Shine Thou our inmost hearts within,
Dispel the night; let brighter day
Now for the darkened world begin.

Giving this acceptable time,
Grant us with tears to cleanse for Thee
The victim of our heart, and then
Burn it with gladsome charity.

The very source that poured forth guilt,
Shall with incessant weeping flow,
If our hard heart be made to melt
By rod of penitential woe.

The day will come, Thy day, when all.
Thou wilt in freshest bloom renew;
Then our glad souls let Thy right hand
Lead back, and with true life endue.

May the whole world before Thee fall
And worship, Trinity Divine,
May we new songs of worship sing,
And with new graces ever shine. Amen.
