Breviary Hymns and Missal Sequences, Saturday, Lauds

cover to the ebook 'Breviary Hymns and Missal Sequences', translated by Archbishop Edward Gilpin BagshaweThe dawn now tinges all the sky,
Upon the earth now steals the day,
Reflected are the rays of light,
May things impure now flee away.

Let phantoms of the night depart,
Let pardoned guilt leave conscience clear.
And may all horrid faults of night,
And hidden darkness, disappear.

That, as we pray on bended knees,
On this morn, of the week the last,
It may resound with gladsome song,
And wholly in the light be passed.

To God the Father, glory be,
And also to His Only Son,
With the Great Spirit Paraclete,
Now, and while endless ages run. Amen.

– translated by Archbishop Edward Gilpin Bagshawe, C.O., Bishop of Nottingham, England
