Breviary Hymns and Missal Sequences, Holy Innocents, Lauds

Flowers of martyrs, hail to you!
Whom at the dawning of the light,
Christ’s persecutor took away,
As stormy winds do rosebuds bright.

First offering to the Christ, you gave,
For Him, your tender lives away,
A simple flock, you with your palms
And crowns, around the altar play.

Jesus, to Thee be glory given,
Whom erst the Virgin Mother bore,
With Father and with Holy Ghost,
Through endless ages evermore. Amen.
