(Saint) Bishop (May 4) (5th century) The successor of Saint Simplician, who followed Saint Ambrose in the See of Milan. He was one of the most distinguished prelates of his time, and a friend and supporter of Saint John Chrysostom. He did good work for the Church under Popes Saint Anastasius and Saint Innocent I. He died in the ninth year of his Episcopate (A.D. 409).
