(Blessed) (February 21) (7th century) A powerful prince, ancestor of the Carolingian dynasty of French kings. He was the father of Saint Gertrude and of Saint Begga, and appears to have been a wise and magnanimous ruler. He died A.D. 640. His body is enshrined at Nivelle with that of Saint Gertrude, and he has always been in local veneration as a Saint.
