Book of Saints – Nicanor

(Saint) Martyr (January 10) (1st century) A Jew by birth, one of the seven deacons chosen by the Apostles (Acts 6:5). The tradition is that after the stoning of Saint Stephen, their chief, they dispersed and went as missionaries among the Gentiles. Saint Nicanor came to Cyprus, where, years afterwards, under Vespasian (A.D. 76 about), he suffered death for Christ.
