Book of Saints – Madoes

(Madianus) (Saint) (7th century) A Saint who has left his name to a place in the Carse of Gowrie. Some identify him with Saint Modocus or AEdan of Ferns. But another tradition makes of him a fellow missionary to Scotland with Saint Bonifatius Quiritinus, who appears to have been sent from Rome to preach Christianity in North Britain. It seems impossible to disentangle the facts from the accretions to the legend.
