Book of Saints – Lullus


(Saint) Bishop (October 16) (8th century) An Englishman, kinsman of Saint Boniface, and his successor in the See of Mentz or Mayence. In his youth he had been a pupil of Venerable Bede at Jarrow. For thirty-four years he governed firmly and wisely the newly-founded Church of Germany, and to end his days retired to the monastery he had founded at Hertzfeld. He passed away November 1, A.D. 787.
