(Saint) (April 11) (6th century) A Syrian monk who early in the sixth century fixed his habitation near Spoleto in Umbria (Central Italy), and gathered many disciples around him. He died in high repute of sanctity, about A.D. 550; and his relics were enshrined at Spoleto. The account given of him in the Dialogues of Saint Gregory the Great is our chief authority for his many miracles and wonderful gift of prophecy.
