Book of Saints – Ia and Others

(Saints) Martyrs (August 4) (4th century) Saint la was a Greek woman, a prisoner in Persia. She suffered martyrdom in that country after enduring frightful torture under the persecuting King Sapor (A.D. 360). The Roman Martyrology commemorates together with this holy woman some nine thousand Christian captives who about the same time laid down their lives for Christ in Persia.
