Book of Saints – Ferrutius

(Saint) Martyr (October 28) (Date uncertain) A Roman soldier stationed at Mainz in Germany, who demanded his discharge from the army rather than take part in idolatrous worship. He was arrested and committed to prison, where he died of hunger and ill-treatment. The date of his death is much contested. Some put it as late as the fifth century; but the beginning of the fourth seems more likely. In the eighth century Saint Lullus placed his body in a suitable shrine.
