Book of Saints – Elfleda – 14 February


ELFLEDA (EDILFREDA, ETHELFREDA) (Saint) (February 14) (8th century) A Saxon princess consecrated to God from her infancy by her father Oswy of Northumbria. She was by him committed to the care of Saint Hilda at Whitby, whom she eventually succeeded as Abbess. Saint Elfleda died A.D. 713.
