Book of Saints – Edith – 15 July


EDITH (Saint) Virgin (July 15) (9th century) This Saint, other certainly than the better known Saint Edith of Wilton, daughter of King Edgar, was, like her, connected with the Royal House of Wessex. She was a daughter probably of King Egbert, and seems to have succeeded Saint Modwenna as Abbess of Polesworth, some time towards the end of the ninth centurv.
