Book of Saints – Edbert


EDBERT (Saint) King. (August 20) (8th century) The successor of Saint Ceolwulph on the throne of Northumbria. His reign was prosperous and lasted twenty years, at the end of which he abdicated in favour of his son and retired to York, where he passed other ten years in the practices of prayer and penance before entering into everlasting rest (A.D. 768).
