Book of Saints – Eanfleda


EANFLEDA (Saint) Queen, Widow. (November 24) (7th century) A daughter of King Saint Edwin of Northumbria and of his wife Saint Ethelburga of Kent, baptised as an infant by Saint Paulinus. She married King Oswy of Northumbria and showed herself a great protector of Saint Wilfrid. On the death of her husband she retired to Whitby Abbey, where she closed her holy life about A.D. 700.
