Book of Saints – Dunchaid O’Raoin


DUNCHAID (Saint) Abbot (January 16) (10th century) This Saint, surnamed O’Raoin, was born in West Meath, and having long led the life of an anchorite near the monastery of Clonmacnoise, was elected its Abbot in A.D. 969. He is famous for many miracles, amongst others for having raised a dead child to life. In his old age he retired to Armagh, where he died A.D. 988.
