Book of Saints – Donnan and Others

DONNAN (DOUNAN) and OTHERS (April 17) (Saints) Martyrs (7th century) Saint Donnan, an Irish Saint, following the example of Saint Columba, settled with his disciples on Egg Island, off the Western coast of Scotland. He and fifty-two of his companions were done to death by the heathen Picts. From the traditional connection between Saint Donnan and Saint Columba the date of the Passion of these holy Martyrs may safely be put at the end of the sixth or beginning of the seventh century.
