Book of Saints – Domninus – 9 October

DOMNINUS (DONNINO) (Saint) Martyr (October 9) (4th century) A Christian of Parma in Italy who, while trying to escape a band of soldiers sent to arrest him, was overtaken and beheaded on the Via Claudia or AEmilia, a few miles out of Parma at a place now called after him Borgo San Donnino, where his relics are venerated to this day. His martyrdom is alleged to have taken place A.D. 304; but the narration accepted in the Middle Ages as the Acts of Saint Domninus is altogether untrustworthy.
