DELPHINUS (Saint) Bishop (December 24) (5th century) A Bishop of Bordeaux in France, held in high esteem by Saint Ambrose and other holy men of his time. He baptised Saint Paulinus of Nola, whose Epistles addressed to Saint Delphinus are touching in their expressions of gratitude and veneration. Saint Delphinus assisted at the Spanish Council of Saragossa (A.D. 380), against the Priscillianist heretics, whom later he again condemned in a Synod of his own (A.D. 385). The year 403 is given as that of his death.
