Book of Saints – Daniel – 3 January

DANIEL (Saint) Martyr (January 3) (2nd century) Saint Daniel, a deacon, said to have been of Jewish extraction, aided Saint Prosdocimus, first Bishop of Padua, in his Apostolate of the North-East of Italy. An eloquent preacher, he was seized and tortured to death in the Fourth General Persecution (A.D. 168). His body was miraculously discovered many centuries later and found incorrupt. His Festival is kept on January 3, that being the anniversary of the Translation of his Relics in the year 1064.
