Book of Saints – Cyriaca


CYRIACA (DOMINICA) (Saint) Martyr (August 21) (3rd century) A wealthy Roman widow who sheltered the persecuted Christians and to whose house Saint Laurence, the deacon and Martyr, was accustomed to repair to distribute his alms. Her courageous charity cost her her life. She was scourged to death as a Christian (A.D. 249). The Roman Church of Saint Mary in Dominica perpetuates her name.
