Book of Saints – Cucuphat


CUCUPHAT (Saint) Martyr (July 25) (4th century) An African Christian who, having crossed into Spain, was put to death on account of his religion near Barcelona, in the time of Diocletian at the close of the third or beginning of the fourth century. The Christian poet Prudentius mentions Saint Cucuphat in his Hymns,and he is in great veneration in Catalonia. Part of his relics have been translated to Paris. His name is variously written Cucuphas, Cougat, Quiquefat, Gulnefort, etc.
