COLUMBA (Saint) Virgin Martyr (December 31) (3rd century) A Christian Virgin put to death at Sens in Burgundy under the Emperor Aurelian (A.D. 273). Terrible tortures, as in the case of so many Martyrs, were inflicted upon her before her head was struck off. Her relics, venerated at Sens, were scattered by the Huguenots in the sixteenth century.
