Book of Saints – Colman of Cloyne

COLMAN of CLOYNE (Saint) Bishop (November 24) (7th century) Born in Cork (A.D. 522), he was educated by Saint Jarlath, and acquired fame at the Court of Cashel as a bard, that is, as a poet and minstrel. Later, counselled thereto by Saint Brendan and Saint Ita, he embraced the monastic life and founded the Church of Cloyne, whence after many years of successful Apostolate, he passed to his eternal reward, at the beginning of the seventh century.
