Book of Saints – Colgan


COLGAN (Saint) Abbot (February 20) (8th century) A famous Abbot of Clonmacnoisc, surnamed “The Wise”and “The chief Scribe of the Scots.” He was the friend of Alcuin, and universally venerated even during his lifetime. Some prayers he composed are still extant. He died about A.D. 796.
