Book of Saints – Claudius, Nicostratus, Castorius, Victorinus and Symphorian

CLAUDIUS, NICOSTRATUS, CASTORIUS, VICTORINUS and SYMPHORIAN (Saints) Martyrs (July 9) (3rd century) Five Christians, of whom Clau- dius is styled a Notary and Nicostratus an Assistant Prefect, described in the very untrustworthy Acts of Saint Sebastian as having suffered martyrdom at the same time as that Saint (A.D. 288 about). They were seized while engaged in burying the bodies of Martyrs, put to the torture, and finally drowned. But it is very doubtful whether they are not identical with the five Saints of the same names, styled Statuaries, and honoured on November 8 with the Four Crowned Martyrs.
