Book of Saints – Bernard – 14 October

BERNARD (Saint) (October 14) (11th century) Some writers say that this holy man was by birth an Englishman ; others that he was of French parentage. He appears to have come as a pilgrim to Rome, and afterwards to have lived a hermit’s life near Arpino in Latium, where he died. His relics are in high veneration in the neighbouring town of Arce, whither they were translated. He probably died in the latter half of the eleventh century.
