Book of Saints – Berach

BERACH (BARACHIAS, BERACHIUS) (Saint) Abbot. (February 15) (6th century) The Patron Saint of Kilbarry (County Dublin). His future sanctity having been predicted by Saint Patrick, Saint Berach from his birth was placed under the care of his uncle, Saint Freoch. He afterwards became Saint Kevin’s disciple, and made a monastic foundation at Cluain-coirpthe in Connaught. He is said to have survived into the sixth century, but the date of his death is uncertain.
