BASILIDES (Saint) Martyr (June 30) (3rd century) A soldier of the Guard of the Prefect of Egypt. He defended Saint Potamia from insult, and in so doing won the gift of Faith and the crown of martyrdom at Alexandria, in the time of the Emperor Septimus Severus (A.D. 205).
