Book of Saints – Barrfoin

BARRFOIN (BARRINDUS) (Saint) (May 21) (6th century) Said to have flourished towards the close of the sixth century and to have had charge of the church founded by Saint Columbkille at Drum Cullen (King’s County), and afterwards to have lived in Donegal at a place called Kilbarron near Ballyshannon. A tradition avers that he reached America in one of his missions by sea, and informed Saint Brendan, the Navigator, of his discovery. Some Irish Calendars style him a Bishop.
