Book of Saints – Barbatus


(Barbas) (Saint) Bishop (February 19) (7th century) A citizen of Benevento in the South of Italy. He rendered great services to his native town, especially when besieged by the Emperor Constans of Byzantium. Chosen Bishop, he assisted at the Council held by Pope Saint Agatho in Rome, and also at the sixth General Council against the Monothelites. He died February 19, A.D. 682.
