Book of Saints – Attilanus

ATTILANUS (Saint) Bishop (October 5) (11th century) Born at Tarragona or Tarascona in Aragon (Spain), in early youth he entered the Benedictine Order and became the disciple of the holy Abbot Saint Froilan, who later chose Attilanus as his Prior and substitute. The two Sees of Leon and Zamora becoming vacant, Saint Froilan was appointed to the former and Saint Attilanus to the latter, and they were consecrated together on Whit-Sunday, A.D. 990. Saint Attilanus governed his flock in a period of great trouble and distress. He died A.D. 909, and was canonised A.D. 1098.
