Book of Saints – Asterius – 20 May


ASTERIUS (Saint) Martyr (May 20) (3rd century) Probably a Syrian. He was converted to Christianity together with a fellow executioner on beholding the invincible fortitude of the holy Martyr Saint Thalalaeus, a Christian physician, whom they were employed to put to death. They themselves, with several other Christian converts, suffered martyrdom at Edessa in Mesopotamia under the Emperor Numerian (A.D. 284).
