ALENA (Saint) Virgin Martyr (June 24) (7th century) A young girl of noble birth in the country now called Belgium, who, having been converted to Christianity, while secretly journeying to hear Mass, was set upon and barbarously put to death by the pagans of the neighbourhood, about A.D. 640.
