AESCHILUS (Saint) Bishop. Martyr. (June 12) (12th century) An Englishman who followed Saint Anschar as a missionary to Sweden, where be was raised to the Episcopal dignity. His zeal for the propagation of the Christian religion led at length to his being condemned to death by King Swerker I, surnamed the ” Bloody.” Saint AEschilus laid down his life for Christ on Good Friday A.D. 1131
