Profile

Educated by the Franciscans, and then joined the Friars Minor, taking the name Bernardin. He studied in Salzburg and Innsbruck, Austria, and was ordained a priest on 2 August 1918. He taught Albanian and Latin at the Franciscan Illyricum Gymnasium. He worked in parishes in Toplana, Palç, Shala, Bushkash, Plan and Rubik in Albania. Arrested by Communists for his faith in Rubik, he was imprisoned in Shkodra on 22 October 1946, abused, tortured and finally sentenced to death. Martyr.
